Edward Peterson, 77

Radcliff, Ky. - Edward A. Peterson, 77, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Ill. with Rev. Priscilla Bell officiating. Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery in Bloomington, Ill. with military rites accorded by the Carl S. Martin American Legion Post 635 of Normal, Ill.

Edward Andrew Peterson was born on February 26, 1925, the son of Edward Otis and Ara Forslof Peterson in Belle Plaine Township. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the University of Dubuque, the University of Colorado and the University of Minnesota where he received a juris doctorate in 1950. On October 18, 1952 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Movick in Thief River Falls. Edward was the former assistant vice president of claims for State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, Ill. He retired on March 1, 1987.

Edward also served as the chairman of the board for Arbitration Forums, Inc. in 1983 and as a member of the board. After 22 years of service in the Naval Reserves, Edward retired from his position as commander. He served during World War II and the Korean War on the USS John Hood and the USS Cushing during a world cruise. Edward was member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Ill., a member of the Valley of Bloomington Ancient Excepted Scottish Rite, McLean Company Shrine, Mohamed Temple of Peoria, Ill. and the Anoka Lodge #30 AF & AM in Anoka.

Survivors include two daughters, Sara Jean (Jim) Johnson of Radcliff, Ky. and Tracy Lynn (Sigurd) Finks of Bloomington; three grandchildren; and a brother, James Prescott Peterson of Matthews, Va.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; and a sister, Ara Peterson Burwell.
