Myers Beach, Fla. - Donald Peterson, 79,
formerly of Thief River Falls, died Monday, October
15, at his home in Fort Myers Beach,
Fla.
Funeral
services were held Monday, October 22, at 10 a.m.
at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls
with Rev. Dan Horn officiating. Interment was in
Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston with Stenshoel-Houske
Funeral Home of Crookston in charge of the
arrangements.
Donald
Ralph Peterson was born on January 2, 1922 in
Crookston, the son of John and Minnie (Larson)
Peterson. He grew up in Crookston, graduating from
Central High School in 1939.
On
June 12, 1948, he married Phyllis M. Fore at
Clearwater Lutheran Church in Oklee. The couple
moved to Minneapolis where Donald was employed at
Franklin Creamery. In 1954, they moved to Wadena
where he began working as a railroad boxcar
inspector. Following a transfer in 1959, he moved
his family to Thief River Falls. In 1965, Donald
began a career as a state grain inspector. After 21
years of service to the State of Minnesota, he
retired in 1986. He began spending winters in Fort
Meyers Beach, Fla. and after selling his Thief
River Falls home in 1997, summering with his family
in the Eden Valley-Watkins and Hastings
areas.
Survivors
include his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Larry
(Marilyn) Peterson of Eden Valley-Watkins and Brian
(Diane) Peterson of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; a
daughter, Janet Peterson of Hastings; six
grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Carol Evans of
Buena Park, Calif. and Gladys "Pat" Doyle of
Phoenix, Ariz.; a niece and several
nephews.
