Archie Peterson, 95

Thief River Falls - Archie Peterson, 95, died Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall will be the organist. Casketbearers will be Mitch Borneman, Mitch Dicken, Murray Dicken, Robert Dicken, Robert Eliason, and Dave Knutson. Interment will take place Monday, May 13, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Archie Peterson was born on October 20, 1906 in Kittson County, the son of Johan and Emma (Bull) Peterson. He attended a country school in Kittson County. Archie lived in Karlstad until he entered the Army Air Forces on April 15, 1942. He was honorably discharged on October 17, 1945 and then made his home in Minneapolis.

On November 23, 1946, Archie was united in marriage to Edna Dicken at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Minneapolis during most of their marriage, moving to Thief River Falls in 1999. While in Minneapolis, Archie worked for Naegele Outdoor Advertising until his retirement. He then served as a custodian at Gustavus Adolphus Churchfor 10 years.

Archie was a member of several bridge clubs and enjoyed playing cards, working in his yard and garden, and especially, spending time with family. He was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Survivors include his wife, Edna of Thief River Falls; two daughters, Karen (Clinton) Bauer of Thief River Falls and Sandra (Michael) Fischer of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and a nephew.

Preceding Archie in death were his parents, 13 sisters, five brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
