Gonvick
- Alvin Peterson, 81, died on Monday, March 3,
2003 at Good Samaritan Center in
Clearbrook.
Graveside
services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10
at Ebenezer Cemetery in Mayfield Township of
Pennington County.
Alvin
Peterson was born on May 10, 1921, the son of Sam
and Annie (Gunderson) Peterson, in McIntosh. He was
raised and attended rural school near Oklee. He
entered the U.S. Army on September 5, 1942, at Fort
Snelling and served overseas, taking part in the
D-Day Invasion. Alvin was honorably discharged on
September 28, 1945, and returned to Oklee where he
worked for Earl Woods. In 1965, he moved to
Gonvick, where he was a farmhand for Ed Vinje and
Vernon Johnson until his retirement. Alvin was a
companion to Anna Vinje for many years. His hobbies
included gardening and visiting with neighbors and
family. He was a member of the VFW in
Trail.
Survivors
include his step-children, Mark Vinje of Crookston
and Margaret Erdmann of Moorhead; three sisters,
Gladys (Don) Snyder of Crookston, Mildred (Dale)
Howard of Staples, and Lydia Skarsten of St. Paul;
and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Alvin was
preceded in death by his parents and his companion,
