Thief River Falls - Alice O. Peterson, 92, died on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the CNC unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec.12, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, with Rev. Mary Ronning officiating. Casket bearers will include Lynn Anderson, Randy Hoffman, Stuart Weis, Kevin Nelson, Steve Dalager and Brad Monson Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Grygla.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Friday.

Alice Olinda Salveson was born November 17, 1911 in Benville Township of Beltrami County, the daughter of Sivert and Inga (Brevik) Salveson. She was baptized and confirmed at Valle Lutheran Church and attended Dalos School in Benville Township. Alice worked in many places, including Waukegan, Ill., Minneapolis and North Dakota.

Alice was united in marriage to Clarence "Gink" Peterson, July 3, 1934 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Grygla. They lived on the Peterson family farm in East Grygla, where she was a Modern Woodman leader for several years.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Gordon) Anderson of Pine Island; one son, Sheldon (Janice) of Grygla; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Holthusen of Grygla and Lorna (John) Hohle of South St. Paul; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on November 6, 1985; her parents; one grandson, Craig Anderson; two sisters, Polly Haroldson and Stella Erickson; and three brothers, Phil, Sam and Jim Salveson.
