Margaret Peterson, 81

Thief River Falls - Margaret "Peg" Peterson, 81, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at her home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 Peterson obit p.m on Friday, October 5, at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Dan Horn officiating. Barb Hauger was the organist, and LeRoy Aasland was the soloist. Casketbearers were Rod Wilson, Eric Wilson, Bill Graeber, Marshall Graeber, Jeff Gustafson and Bob Gustafson. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Louise Gustafson was born on March 7, 1920 in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Carl David and Julia Teresa (Peterson) Gustafson. She grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1937.

In 1939, Margaret was united in marriage to Norman Paul Peterson in Crookston.

She loved music and directed the United Methodist Choir for many years. She was also active in circle and directed the children's choir. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and directed the auxiliary choir.

Margaret was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hockey, football and baseball. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Survivors include a son, Paul Peterson of Acton, Mass.; two daughters, Nan (Rod) Barrett of Fountain Valley, Calif. and Cam (Bill) Graeber of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; two brothers, Charles (Phyllis) Gustafson and Ralph (June) Gustafson, both of Florida; a sister, Jean (Del) Tiedeman of California; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Kendall Gustafson; and a daughter-in-law, Kate Peterson. A00003B2001OC10
