Dorothy Pederson, 83

Plummer - Dorothy I. Pederson, 83, died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 11 Pederson Obit a.m. on Monday, May 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Linda Olson was the organist and soloist. Casketbearers included

Jim Seibel, Tom Seibel, Harold Vatthauer, Loren LaFayette, Cory Pederson, and Don Fox. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery near Red Lake Falls with Johnson Funeral Service in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy I. Luxemburg was born on June 9, 1918 in Red Lake Falls, the daughter of Jesse and Anna (Nurath) Luxemburg. She attended school in Red Lake Falls and graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. Following high school, she attended Grand Forks Business College, graduating with an associate degree.

On June 5, 1940, Dorothy was united in marriage to Ernest Pederson in Bemidji. The couple lived in Bemidji for a few years before moving to Plummer where they farmed. In 1960, they moved from the farm into Plummer. Dorothy worked as a waitress in Bemidji and Red Lake Falls and as the secretary/bookkeeper at Plummer High School from 1964 to 1982. Ernest died on May 26, 2001.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and circle and the Plummer American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening, walking, sewing, and quilting.

Survivors include four daughters, Beverly (Harold) Waldal of Phoenix, Ariz., Linda (Michael) King of Milwaukee, Wisc., Judy (Wally) Nyland of Seattle, Wash., and Donna (Ken) Wisniewski of Wind Lake, Wisc.; a son, Richard (Debbie) Pederson of Waterford, Wisc.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Erwin Weiss of Red Lake Falls; three sisters, Betty Seibel of Red Lake Falls, Jean Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Marge Lindsay of Seminole, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents. A00003B2002MY22
