Kan. - Alice Patten, 92, died Monday, April 30,
2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka,
Kan.
A
memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on
Saturday, May 12, at Faith Lutheran Church in
Topeka.
A
second memorial service will be held on Monday, May
14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in
Thief River Falls. Alice donated her body to the
study of science and medicine at the University of
Kansas Medical School.
Alice
Mae Parnow was born on June 16, 1908 near Thief
River Falls, the daughter of Otto and Mary Parnow.
She attended high school in Crookston and later
received her nursing degree in Crookston. She was a
nurse in Michigan and continued her studies at the
University of Michigan. She was also a nurse at
Northwestern Hospital in Thief River Falls for many
years. She married Harvey J. Patten of Thief River
Falls in 1935. Five years ago, she moved to Topeka,
Kan. to be closer to her family.
While
living in Thief River Falls, Alice was a member of
St. John Lutheran Church and was active in many of
its organizations. After moving to Topeka, she was
an active member of Faith Lutheran
Church.
Alice
is survived by a son, Rev. Howard J. (Marilyn)
Patten of Topeka; a daughter, Mary (Rev. David)
Marth of St. Louis, Mo.; and five
grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her husband.
