Edna Parker, 71

Viking - Edna Parker, 71, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at her home in Marsh Grove township of Marshall county.

Funeral services will be held at Parker Obit 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, at Evangelical Free Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Jim Howard and Rev. Ron Hemsworth officiating. Carolyn Trontvet will be the organist, and the soloist will be Kent Hudson. Rev. Paul Lobb will be the reader. Casketbearers will be Marshall Parker, Parker Whitcomb, Patrick Whitcomb, John Gallagher, Joshua Gallagher and Justin Gallagher. Honorary casketbearers will be Jordan Hanson and Jacob Hanson. Interment will be in Viking Cemetery in Viking township of Marshall county.

Edna Mae Terlouw was born on January 6, 1930 in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Gysbert and Willepje "Winnie" (Engbers) Terlouw. She attended Pleasant View Country School from 1935 to 1943. She was baptized following her marriage.

On June 8, 1954, Edna was united in marriage to William Parker at her birth home in Pella, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple lived and ministered in Parkers Prairie, Glenwood, Ralston, Neb., Bemidji and Sauk Centre before retiring in 1994.

Edna worked as a registered nurse at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis, Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Neb., Bemidji Hospital in Bemidji and Melrose Hospital in Melrose. In the spring of 2000, she and her husband moved to their home near Viking.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, knitting, cooking, baking and especially spending time with her family.

Edna is survived by her husband, William of Viking; three daughters, Esther Marie (John) Gallagher of Goodridge, Rebekah Ann (Frank) Whitcomb of Geneva and Deborah "Debbie" Lynn (Jon) Hanson of Viking; a daughter-in-law, Linda Parker of Sunnyvale, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Reuben (Carol) Terlouw and Norman (Linda) Terlouw, both of Pella, Iowa; a sister, Martha Rowden of Frankfurt, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, William Randall Parker on August 2, 1987.
