Otteson, 64
Thief
River Falls - Lloyd Ottesen, 64, died Thursday,
March 7, 2002 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical
Center in Thief River Falls. 
A
funeral service was held Monday, March 11, at 1:30
p.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief
River Falls with Father Tim McGee officiating.
Jeanne Novacek was the organist, and Emily Novacek
was the cantor. Casketbearers were Tony Heinze, Joe
McMullen, Rodney Twistol, Clifford Reierson, Bill
Rondorf, Wally Larson, Jerry Muzzy, and Bruce
Engstrom. Interment was in St. Bernard's Cemetery
in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in
charge of the arrangements.
Lloyd
Arthur Ottesen was born on September 28, 1937 in
Mowbery, N.D., the son of Arthur and Lena (Zerr)
Ottesen. He grew up in Mount Carmel, N.D. where he
was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
He attended Mt. Carmel Catholic School and Mowbery
Country School. Lloyd farmed in North Dakota for
seven years before moving to Lancaster in 1964 and
starting a Hereford ranch.
On
November 9, 1957, Lloyd married Delphine Feil. The
couple had five children, Linda, Pam, Barb, Shalla,
and Jayson.
In
1967, Lloyd attended auction school, and in 1974,
he moved to Thief River Falls where he purchased
the Thief River Falls Livestock Auction Market.
After selling the market, he sold livestock at the
West Fargo Stockyard. He also sold livestock in
Winger, Bagley, and Bemidji and conducted numerous
farm auctions.
On
July 26, 1985, Lloyd married Linda McKay. Lloyd and
Linda had one son, Joseph.
He
was a member of the North Dakota Auctioneers
Association, the Eagles, and the American Hereford
Association.
Lloyd
enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising Hereford cattle,
and showing horses.
Survivors
include his mother, Lena Ottesen of Langdon, N.D.;
two sons, Jayson of Thief River Falls and Joe of
Newfolden; four daughters, Linda Brown of
Burnsville, Pam (Todd) Teiken of Ames, Iowa, Barb
(Gregg) Gjerswold of Vancouver, Wash., and Shalla
(Jeff) Kierzek of Apple Valley; eight
grandchildren; four brothers, Jim of Chula Vista,
Calif., Jerry of Perham, Bernard of Renton, Wash.,
and Larry of LaCross, Wisc.; and four sisters,
Carol Lorenz of Langdon, N.D., Mary Clausen of
Omaha, Neb., Bernice Schneider of Langdon, N.D.,
and Kay Dalsted of Brookings, S.D.
Lloyd
was preceded in death by his father.
