Erskine - Rosella Ostby, 97, of Erskine, died on Thursday, December 4, 2003, at the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 7 at the United Methodist Church in Erskine with the Rev. Lois Ball officiating. Casket bearers were Rosella's grandchildren. Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery of rural Erskine.

Rosella Anna Truehl was born on February 10, 1906 in Merrimac, Wisconsin to parents Theodore and Minnie (Martin) Truehl. At the age of six years, Rosella moved with her family to Erskine, where she grew up and attended school.

Rosella cared for her elderly parents at home until she was married to Henry Ostby in May of 1932. After their marriage, they lived in Erskine and Rosella spent her time caring for and raising her family. In later years, she was employed at Garden Valley Telephone Company in Erskine. Following her retirement, she and Henry continued to reside in Erskine. Henry passed away in November, 1977.

After Henry's death, Rosella spent time doing activities that she enjoyed, traveling, gardening and tending to her flowers. Rosella entered the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine in November, 1999.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Erskine.

Survivors include one daughter, Luella Ostby of Erskine; four sons, Harvey (Carol) of Breckenridge, Leroy (Pat) of St. Hilaire, Wally (Linda) of Tucson, Ariz., and Ron (Ruth) of Thief River Falls, 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; one granddaughter; two brothers, Carl and Fred; and four sisters, Hulda Mead, Myrtle Meinerts, Alice Barrow, and Maude Barrow. A00003B2003DC10
