- Amanda Ostby, 17, died on Saturday, May 17,
2003.
Funeral
services were held on Thursday, May 22 at the
Roseau High School Gym. Interment was in Malung
Cemetery.
Amanda
Rose Ostby was born on December 17, 1985, the
daughter of James and Denise (Gaber) Osowski, in
Grand Forks, N.D. She lived in Crookston before
moving to Roseau in 1990. She was currently and
junior at Roseau High School and lived an active
life. She loved giving and receiving hugs. She
enjoyed writing, looking at pictures, singing,
listening to music, spending time with friends and
family, talking on the phone, styling hair and
makeup, giving massages, dancing and shopping. She
was active in the Covenant Church Youth Group,
watching sports and she worked at the Pizza Ranch.
Her grandfather Carl gave her the nickname
"Pooh-Bear" and her friends called her
"Amanda-Panda."
Survivors
include her parents, Tom and Denise Ostby of
Roseau; father, James Osowski of Milaca;
grandparents, Carl and Mel"O"Dee Gaber of East
Grand Forks, Orlin and Mandy Ostby of Gatzke,
Janelle Menard of Grand Forks, N.D., Betty Ostby of
Grygla, Darryl and Jan Osowski of Grafton, Elmer
and JoAnn Opatz of Oaks, N.D., Jan Osowski and
Elmer Opatz; brothers and sisters, Justyn Ostby of
Thief River Falls, Nicholas, Carlie and Hayley
Ostby, all of Roseau; step-brothers, Alex and Eric
Osowski; step-sister, Julia Osowski of Princeton;
and several other relatives.
Amanda
was preceded in death by her great-grandparents,
Gerard "Minnie" Menard, Rose Gaber and Adam Gaber,
Thorfin Ostby, Julia and Peter Stauffenecker and
John and Cecilia Osowski.
