Grygla
- Edwin Olufson, 84, died on Tuesday, May 13,
2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River
Falls. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 16
at the Stennes Funeral Home in East Grand Forks.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Grand Forks,
N.D.
Edwin S.
Olufson was born on August 4, 1918, the son of
Theodore and Ida (Overland) Olufson, in Hamlet,
N.D. He grew up west of Grand Forks,
N.D.
On
September 6, 1940, he married Myrtle Fontaine in
Grand Forks. They were married for 40 years until
her death in 1980. He started working for Transport
Inc. in 1952, retiring after 28 years in 1980.
Edwin
married Violet Jelle Torgerson on July 24, 1981 in
Thief River Falls. They moved to rural Thief River
Falls in 1994 and then to Grygla in
2002.
Survivors
include his wife, Violet of Grygla; children, Roger
(Judy) of Grand Forks, N.D., Kevin of Grand Forks,
Gary of Lakeville, and Marilyn (Gary) Heit of
Fargo, N.D.; six grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; step-children, Delores
(Douglas) Nomeland of Thief River Falls, Lillian
(Harvey) Lund of Thief River Falls, Opal (Curtis)
Bottem of Grygla, Douglas (Linda) Torgerson of
Grygla, Carter (Linda) Torgerson of Grygla, and
Scott (Sharon) Torgerson of Grygla; 17
step-grandchildren; and nine step
great-grandchildren.
Edwin was
preceded in death by his parents; his first wife,
Myrtle; two brothers, Oscar and Henry; and two
sisters, Thelma and Emma.
