- Erling Olson, 59, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002
at First Care Hospital in Fosston.
Funeral
services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13,
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McIntosh with
Rev. Dale Mellgren officiating. Interment was in
Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural McIntosh, with
Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in charge of the
arrangements.
Erling
Lawrence Olson was born on May 19, 1942 in Equality
Township near Oklee, the son of Ingvald and Ruth
(Kingsland) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at
Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee and graduated from
Oklee High School in 1960. After graduation, he was
employed at the missile base in Minot,
N.D.
On
December 1, 1962, Erling was united in marriage to
Marian Olson at the original Oak Park Lutheran
Church north of Oklee. The couple resided in Minot,
and Erling hauled grain to Duluth before they moved
to McIntosh in 1966. In 1972, Erling started his
own gravel business that he operated for many years
in the McIntosh area.
He
was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural
McIntosh, and enjoyed working on antique
trucks.
Survivors
include his wife, Marian; a daughter, Lorraine
(Bob) Mains of Rapid City, S.D.; two sons, Steven
(Julie) Olson and Curtis Olson, both of McIntosh;
three granddaughters; four brothers, George
(Ardelle) of Oklee, Marlan (Marge) of Gonvick,
Clifford (Mary) of Denver, Colo., and Norman (Joy)
of Lamoure, N.D.; four sisters, Hansine (Gerald)
Greek of Oxnard, Calif., Ivy Hahn of Oklee, Amy
Olson of Grand Rapids, and Sylvia (Gary) Munter of
Fosston; and several nieces and nephews.
A
son, Lyle; his parents; a brother Alfred; and a
nephew preceded Erling in death.
