Duran Olson, 46

Thief River Falls - Duran Olson, 46, died on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Olson, Duran Monday, September 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Wollenzien and Rev. Tim Bauer officiating. Ruth Stenson was the organist. Glenda Olson sang "Finally Home" and Larry Torgerson sang "Sun of the Morning" and "Jesus Loves Me" medley. Lana Torgerson was the accompanist for Larry. Casketbearers were Joshua Lian, Daniel Olson, Jeffrey Olson, Michael Olson, Nathan Olson and Steven Olson. Honorary casketbearers were Boy Scout Troop #59 and the Thief River Falls Public School Transportation staff. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Duran Keith Olson was born on October, 4 1955, the son of Morris and Dorothy (Huseth) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1974. Following high school, he attended the AVTI in Thief River Falls, studying in the carpentry program for two years.

On June 18, 1983, Duran was united in marriage to Jodie Lian at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla. He farmed with his brother, Ross, at D and R Farms until 1996. Duran presently owned and operated D. Olson Construction and also drove bus for the Thief River Falls school district.

Duran loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his sons. He was an assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 59, a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunter's Association, Minnesota School Employees Association, Sunday School superintendent at Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the church council.

Survivors include his wife, Jodie; three sons, Joel, Justin and Jayce, all of Thief River Falls; his mother, Dorothy Olson; seven brothers and sisters, Cathy Olson of Thief River Falls, Ross (Glenda) of Thief River Falls, Merrilee (Loren) Goligowski of White Bear Lake, Natalie Olson of Hopkins, Linette Olson of Grand Forks, N.D., David (Anne) of Alvarado and Dianna (Dave) Cavalier of Fargo, N.D.; and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Duran was preceded in death by his father, Morris; and grandparents, Edwin and Emma Olson and Erick and Inga Huseth. A00003B2002SP04
