&endash; Cecil Duane Olson, 75, died Wednesday,
July 10, 2002 at Littlefork Care Center in
Littlefork.
Services
were held Saturday, July 13, at Littlefork Lutheran
Church with the Rev. Thomas Aitken presiding.
Interment was at Oakley Cemetery.
Cecil
Duane Olson was born September 29, 1926 at Shevlin
to Carl "Ludvig" and Lillie (Nelson) Olson. He was
raised and grew up in the Shevlin area. In 1941 he
moved to Grafton, N.D., and worked on potato farms.
Between 1945 and 1946 he proudly served in the
United States Army in the Asiatic and Pacific
theater. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force,
serving between 1950 and 1953 in England and
Oklahoma City at Tinker Air Force Base. On August
19, 1951, he married the former June Rux at United
Methodist Church. In 1953 they moved to Thief River
Falls where he worked in construction. They later
moved to Chester, Mont., where he worked on the
Tiber Dam. In 1955, they moved to Aurora and he
worked as a guard at a taconite plant. In 1958,
they settled in Littlefork. While in Littlefork he
was a logger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing
pool and cribbage.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, a sister,
Rubby Olson, seven brothers, Rueben, Roy, Wilfred,
Kenneth Vernon, Dennis and Donovan, a son, Curtis
Olson, and two great grandsons.
He
is survived by his wife June (Rux) Olson of
Littlefork, daughters Janice (Roger) Ness of Thief
River Falls, Deanne (Shawn) Stamnes of Green Bay,
Wis., and eight grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren, a sister, Florence Martine of
Bagley, and several nieces and nephews.
