Alvin O. Olson, 82

Thief River Falls - Alvin O. Olson, 82, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 14, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and Marie Engen was the soloist. Timothy Olson was the cross bearer. Casketbearers were Lance Moen, Arvid Halvorson, Dick Moen, John Lubitz, Pete Solem, Joe Hermreck, Danny Johnson, David Johnson and Kevin Johnson. Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery in New Solum Township of Marshall County.

Alvin Orlando Olson was born on January 4, 1919, the son of Art and Olga (Gustafson) Olson in New Solum Township of Marshall County. He attended a country school and graduated from high school in Newfolden in 1935. He farmed with his dad.

In 1954, he married Dorothy Gibeau in Iowa. The couple moved to Thief River Falls where Alvin worked as a beekeeper for Clarence Isaacson. He later worked for Forsbergs until his retirement in 1976. Alvin and Dorothy moved into Thief River Falls in 1994.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Solum Township and was treasurer and sexton of Bethlehem Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Daniel (Kathy) of Viking and Art (Kay) of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Holmgren of St. Hilaire; a stepson, David (Lisa) Cline of Warren; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Clarice Bren of Thief River Falls and Leona Neegard of Warren.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law and several aunts and uncles. A00003B2001DC19
