Mary C. Olson, 97

Oklee - Mary C. Olson, 97, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 2 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, rural Oklee with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Gelene Lundeen was the organist and Jodi Peters was the soloist. Special musical selections included "Beyond the Sunset" and "Hymn of Promise." Casketbearers were Glenn Delude, Gale Delude, Joel Stolaas, Darrin Olson, Kent Olson, Greg Trickey and Danny Trickey. Interment was in Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston.

Mary Cora Demarais was born on May 24, 1905, the daughter of Edmund and Caroline (Derosier) Demarais, in Russia Township, rural Crookston.

On July 21, 1927, Mary was united in marriage to Conrad B. Olson in Crookston. The couple farmed in rural Crookston for many years. Mary moved into Crookston for 12 years and then lived with her daughter, Pearl. In 1996, Mary moved in with her daughter, Clarice and her husband Orlan Stolaas, where she has since resided.

Mary was a member of Hafslo Lutheran Church in Crookston until it closed, then joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston. She eventually transferred to Ebenezer Lutheran Church in rural Oklee.

Among Mary's hobbies were canning, gardening, puzzles and plastic canvas work.

Survivors include one daughter, Clarice (Orlan) Stolaas of Oklee; two sons, Marvin (Lorraine) of Crookston, and Dean of Erskine; 16 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Melvina Berry of Crookston; a sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad; daughter, Pearl Delude; a grandson; five sisters, Sophie Demarais, Lena Larson, Zelda Simmons, Marion Simmons and Lizzie Solie, and two sisters in infancy; three brothers, Joe, Lewie and Fred Demarais; a daughter-in-law; and a son-in-law.
