Marlys NovacekGreenbush - Marlys Kay Novacek, 63, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2004.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 10, at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush, with Pastor Ken Hart officiating. Casket bearers included Jeffrey Second, Greg Stassen, Eric Novacek, Ashley Novacek, Gwen Taylor, Tami Schoeder, Jennifer Bushee and Sherri Waage. Interment was held at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Leo.

Marlys Kay Novacek, the daughter of the late Roy and Mabel (Bertilrud) Anderson, was born on April 8, 1940, in Greenbush. She attended school and grew up in Greenbush and Badger, graduating from Badger High School in 1958. Marlys was baptized and confirmed at the Pauli Lutheran Church near Greenbush. On April 23, 1960, she was united in marriage to David Novacek in Leo. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Virginia, Minn. for several years, then moved to Minneapolis. They returned to Badger for five years, and from 1974 until 1980, resided at Billings, Mont. Since 1980, they have made their home at Lake Park. Marlys was a member of the Ulen, V.F.W. Post 5115 Auxiliary and of the Lake Park American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo and trips to the casinos.

Survivors include her husband, David; one son, Russell (Kris) of West Fargo, N. D.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Gayle Stassen of Rockford and Sandra, (LuVerne) Hagen of Badger; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters, Lynn Marie and Jena Marie; one brother, Irvin; and one brother-in-law Gordon Stassen. A00003B2004JA14
