Walter Norman, 73

Havre, Mont. - Walter L. Norman, 73 died Thursday, August 2, 2001 at a Havre, Mont. care facility.

Funeral services were held at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Johnny Richardson and Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Cremation followed the service.

Walter L. Norman was born on February 20, 1928 at Salter, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of O.P. and Susan (Schnepp) Norman. In 1935, he moved with his parents to the original homestead south of Dodson. He attended schools in Salter and rural Dodson. Norman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and returned to the family farm after his honorable discharge.

On December 11, 1971, he married LaVonne Jasperson at Minneapolis. The couple lived on the family farm until April 25, 2000 when they moved to Havre.

Norman enjoyed mechanics, welding, playing cards and restoring antique vehicles and tractors.

He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Norman of Havre; a sister, Della Fry of Hamilton; a sister-in-law; three nephews; a nieces; and two stepnieces.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a niece and a nephew.
