Trassia "Tress" Noel, 78

Thief River Falls - Trassia "Tress" Noel, 78, died Friday, September 14, 2001 at her home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. John Wollenzien officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist. Casketbearers were Neil Gillespie, Robert Reed, Emery Horien, Arthur Buringrud, Leonard Furuseth and Lloyd Hogenson. Honorary casketbearers included the Lincoln High School Class of 1940 and others who had touched her life. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Green Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Trassia "Tress" Mary Dorothy Mackenroth was born on December 20, 1922 in Pickerd, N.D., the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Hulick) Mackenroth. She attended school in Pickerd until she was 13 years old and her family moved to Thief River Falls. Tress graduated from Lincoln High School. Following graduation, she was employed by Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis.

On September 15, 1944, Tress was united in marriage to Donald Noel in Thief River Falls. The couple resided in Thief River Falls their entire lives. Tress worked at the Minnesota Employment Office from July of 1964 to May of 1987. Donald died on September 16, 1976.

Tress was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she did volunteer work in the office. In addition to coordinating Trinity's Meals on Wheels volunteers, she recruited other volunteers from the county to help with program. In 1998, she was named one of Pennington County's Outstanding Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Tress is survived by a daughter, Linda (Robert) Lawson of Fargo, N.D.; two sons, Anthony (Barbara) Noel of Thief River Falls and Jeffrey (Peggy) Noel of Stephen; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Severson of Castro Valley, Calif. two stepbrothers, Lauris Krogstad of Gonvick and Edward Krogstad in California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, Frank Mackenroth and Dorothy Mackenroth Krogstad; and two brothers, Ed and George.
