Charles Noel Sr., 74

Willow Spring, N.C. - Charles L. Noel Sr., 74, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at his son's home in Willow Spring, N.C.

Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

Charles L. Noel Sr. was born on May 29, 1927 in Thief River Falls, the son of Clifford and Inga Noel. He attended Lincoln High School and was a Lutheran. He retired from the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and Korea. He was a longtime resident of Charleston, S.C.

Survivors include a son, Charles L. (Sheila) Noel Jr.; two grandchildren; a brother, Richard Noel of Roanoke, Texas; four sisters, Norma Heyn and Virginia Buringrud, both of Thief River Falls; Dorothy Pumala of Mesa, Ariz. and Beverlee Bartot of Payson, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, and his parents.
