Ida Newman, 80

St. Paul &endash; Ida O. Newman, 80, of St. Paul, formerly of Strathcona, passed away June 27, 2002 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, 2002 at Johnson-Peterson Funeral Home in White Bear. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery at Mahtomedi.

Ida O. Roppe was born December 4, 1921 to Ole and Inga (Rud) Roppe. She married Oliver Newman on September 30, 1941 and in 1950 they moved to St. Paul where she worked at Syfo's and Waldorf Paper Co. until retirement. Oliver passed away on October 2, 1982.

Ida is survived by three sons, Dennis (Patricia), James (Gail), Nathan (Judy) Newman, and one daughter , Carol (Chuck) Smith, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Norman Roppe of Strathcona, and Maurice Roppe of St. Francis, and one sister, Della Elseth of Newfolden, many nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends.
