- Carrie Ness, 87, died Saturday, February 21,
2004 at Sheltering Oaks Manor Nursing Home in
Roseau.
Funeral
services will be held at
1
p.m., Wednesday (today), Feb. 25 at the Nazareth
Lutheran Church in Holt, with Rev. Paul Grothe
officiating. Casket bearers include Eric Ness,
Aaron Ness, Patrick Ness, Aaron Critchley and Ryan
Severson. Interment will be at the Holt Cemetery.
Visitation
will be one hour prior to services at the church on
Wednesday.
Carrie
Lunke was born June 22, 1916, the daughter of Ole
and Clara (Knutson) Lunke, in East Valley Township
of Marshall County. Carrie was baptized and
confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt and
attended Sunnyside School.
On
September 7, 1935, Carrie was united in marriage to
Bertil Ness. They made their home on a farm east of
Holt for over 40 years until her husbands' death in
1979. Carrie moved to Thief River Falls, and in
1988, moved to the Sheltering Oaks Manor Nursing
Home in Roseau.
Carrie
was a member of the Holt Ladies Aid, enjoyed
quilting, gardening, and being active in the rural
community.
Survivors
include her son, Richard (Nova) of Jakarta,
Indonesia; six grandsons; one great
great-granddaughter; a sister, Hazel (Clifford)
Jorland of Middle River and several nieces and
nephews.
Carrie
was preceded in death by her husband; two
daughters, Carol and Joann; four brothers; Hilmer,
Jens, Oscar, and Arthur; and one sister; Josie.
