Red
Lake Falls - Lloyd Nereson, 96, died on
Thursday, November 8, 2001, at the Hillcrest
Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral
services were on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at
Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with
Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Burial will
be at the Gary Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gary.
Lloyd
John Nereson was born on August 27, 1905 in Gary,
to the late Nere and Thilda (Gunderson) Nereson. He
was baptized on September 17, 1905 at St. Pauli
Lutheran Church in Gary, and confirmed there also,
on October 12, 1919. Lloyd attended school in Gary,
graduating from Gary High School on May 29, 1925.
Following graduation he attended and graduated from
Aakers Business College.
On
June 5, 1929 Lloyd was united in marriage to Cora
Louise Flaa in Ada. The couple enjoyed a nine month
honeymoon traveling the West Coast.
In
the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's Lloyd provided
accounting services for local Thief River Falls
businesses, including Jung's Bakery and Bishop's
Chrysler. In 1941-1942 he owned and operated a
hardware store in Mayville, N.D. After selling the
Hardware in 1942 he went to work in Alaska as an
accountant for a construction company building the
'Alcan Highway'. Lloyd retired in 1969 from the
United States Post Office in Thief River Falls,
after 27 years of service.
Lloyd
loved hunting, fishing and all outdoor activity,
reading and traveling. He also enjoyed carpentry
work and built four houses.
He
attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River
Falls.
Lloyd
is survived by his wife, Louise; one daughter,
Paulette (Jerrold) Moyer of Thief River Falls; two
sons: Lowell (Nancy) Nereson of Detroit Lakes, and
Gary (Gayle) Nereson of Andover; six grandchildren;
and two great grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters:
Annie, Nora, Thea and Gladys; and seven brothers:
George, Herman, Obed, Albert, Henry, Arthur and
Obed, in infancy.
The
family wishes to thank the staff of Hillcrest
Nursing Home for the excellent care Lloyd has
received the past seven years.

were Anthony Gades, Eric Thompson, Ryan Nereson,
Shane Timm, Peter Kutches and Leif
Nereson.
