C. Louise Nereson, 96

Red Lake Falls &endash; C. Louise Nereson, 96, died on Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral service were held on Nereson, Louise Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Burial will be in the Gary Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gary.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service held at 6:30 p.m. at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls and Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the church.

Cora Louise Nereson was born on July 10, 1906, the daughter of Paul and Pauline (Lystne) Flaa in Gary. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauli Lutheran Church in Gary, attended Gary High School and graduated from Twin Valley high School. She received a Teaching Certificate from Moorhead State College and taught at Sersland School #43 and at Poplar Grove School #91. Louise married Lloyd John Nereson on June 5, 1929 in Ada.

Louise and Lloyd lived in Mayville, N.D., for a short time where they ran a hardware store. After returning to Thief River Falls in 1937, Louise attended a school of cosmetology in Minneapolis. Following that, she started work as a hairdresser in Thief River Falls. She worked in that profession until 1941, when she and Lloyd started a family. Louise then made a career of raising three children.

Louise loved to garden, sew, cook and crochet. She was an excellent seamstress and delighted in making new clothes for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed picnics, Sunday drives, family gatherings and travel, particularly to Norway.

She is survived by her children: daughter, Paulette (Jerrold) Moyer of Thief River Falls; son Lowell (Nancy) Nereson of Detroit Lakes; son Gary (Gayle) Nereson of Andover; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Inez (Mandez) Thordal of Gary, and brother Francis (Jeannine) Flaa of East Grand Forks.

Her husband, parents and one sister, Vernice, preceded her in death. A00003B2002JA29
