Laura Doris Nelson, 92

Strathcona - Laura Doris Nelson, 92, of Strathcona, died on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Greenbush Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 9 at United Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush. Interment will be held at a later date at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Laura was born on August 4, 1911 in Pine City to James and Anna (Dlonky) Linert. She grew up and attended school in Pine City. She was united in marriage to Obert Nelson on November 14, 1934 in Roseau. She and Obert lived in rural Badger following their marriage and farmed for 18 years before moving to Strathcona in 1953. Obert passed away on May 3, 1970 and Laura continued to make her home on their farm in Strathcona.

She was an active member of United Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush and The Northland ThrEshing Bee.

Survivors include two sons, George (Lila) Nelson of Badger and Jospeh Nelson of Thief River Falls; four grandsons; six great- granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Obert; two sons, Leland and Robert; an infant son; two sisters, Doris Olmstead and Mary Solom; four brothers, Paul, Jim, Bill, and Archie Linert.
