Kathryn Nelson, 74

Crookston - Kathryn Ann Nelson, 74, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the Riverview Nursing Home in Crookston.

Funeral services were held on Kay Nelson Saturday, January 18 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middle River with Rev. Don Braukmann and Rev. Bob Schreiner officiating. Cathy Erickson and Mitch Walski provided the special music. Honorary casketbearers were all those who attended the service. Casketbearers were Robert Nelson, Ken Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Ron Nelson, Dean Kelgstad and Frank Shockley. Interment was held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Middle River.

Kathryn Ann Adamski was born on September 10, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Grochowski) Adamski in Stephen. She grew up and attended Stephen High School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Kay worked at the Wagon Wheel Café in Warren.

On October 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Henry Nelson in Warren. The couple made their home in Warren and, later, moved to Middle River, where they resided for many years. In July 1995, they returned to Warren. Henry died in 1995 and Kay moved to Thief River Falls for a short time, then back to Middle River. She was a long-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Middle River and of the Ladies' Guild, holding various offices. For the past year and a half, she resided in Warren.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (Frank) Shockley of Blaine, Beverly (Dean) Klegstad of Middle River and Renae of Maple Grove; four sons, Rober (Jan) of Middle River, Kenneth (Cecylia) of Memphis, Tenn., Jerry (Terri) of Cambridge and Ronald (Lynn) of Maple Grove; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steve (Angeline) of Florian and Harry (Lorraine) of Stephen; two sisters, Zepherina Kuznia of Warren and Bernice Sullivan of Sun City, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
