Nelson, 76
Karlstad
&endash; Donald Alfred Nelson, 76, died Monday,
Sept. 1, 2003, at the Karlstad Health Center in
Karlstad.
Funeral
services were held on
Thursday,
Sept. 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Bronson,
with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Interment
was at Riverside Cemetery in Lake
Bronson.
Casketbearers
were Brad Nelson LeRoy Hougard, Jerry Rude, Steve
Nelson, Virgil Poole, Sheree Weisz. Arrangements
with Collins Funeral Homes of Karlstad, Greenbush,
and Middle River.
Donald
Alfred Nelson, the son of the late William and
Dagny (Hanson) Nelson, was born on July 3, 1927, at
Drayton, N.D. He attended school and grew to
manhood in Springbrook Township of Kittson County,
near Donaldson. Donald served with the U.S. Army
during World War II, and following discharge from
service in 1947, returned to Kittson County. He
worked as a farm laborer for various farmers
throughout the area. In 1965, he moved into Lake
Bronson, and for the past 20 years, has resided at
the Senior Citizens Housing Unit there. Donald has
made his home at the Karlstad Healthcare Center for
several weeks, and passed away there on Monday
evening, Sept. 1.
He
is survived by three brothers: James, of Mound;
Allan, and his wife, Sharon, of Fargo, N.D.; and
Bill, of Kennedy; one sister: June Nelson, of
Grafton, N.D.; eight nieces and nephews; 16 grand
nieces and nephews, three great-grand nieces and
nephews, and several cousins and other relatives.
Donald
was preceded in death by his parents and
sister-in-law, Maxine Nelson in 1985.
