Rose Needham, 70

Thief River Falls - Rose Needham, 70, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Mass of Christian burial was Needham, Rose photo held on Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Father Tim McGee officiating. Kristi LaSalle was the organist and Shelly Burkel was the vocalist. Honorary casketbearers were Rose's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment was at St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Rose Marie Reese was born January 13, 1932 in Badger to William and Mary (Foster) Reese. She grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls, receiving her GED in 1965.

Rose married Edward Needham on April, 15, 1950 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. They made their home in Beltrami County on the west end of the Red Lake Indian Reservation where they operated an American Indian arts and crafts shop on their farm. Rose then worked for two-and-a-half years at the Heritage Community Center in Thief River Falls and spent her remaining six months working in the gift shop at Seven Clans Casino.

Rose enjoyed sewing, gardening, collecting angels, antiques, crafts and baking and cooking. She also made American Indian and wildlife ceramics and crafts. She was an avid volunteer with her church, hospice and a variety of community organizations.

Survivors include daughters, Debra Needham, Fargo, N.D. and Cynthia Cervin (Shawn Peden), Spokane, Wash.; a son, Michael (Sue), Devils Lake, N.D.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six brothers, Jim, Bernard, Ronnie, Ambrose, Charles and Matthew Reese.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her parents.
