Mabel Naplin, 55

St. Hilaire - Mabel "Mae" Naplin, 55, died Monday, April 2, 2001 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 Naplin Obit p.m. on Friday, April 6, at Black River Lutheran Church, rural St. Hilaire, with Rev. Marcia Sylvester officiating. Ruthie Mosbeck was the organist. Soloist was Eric Naplin. Casketbearers were Mark Naplin, Eric Naplin, Kristin Naplin, Bradley Naplin, Brandon Kisch and Greg Moore. Honorary casketbearers were all of Mae's nieces and nephews. Interment was in Black River Cemetery in Polk Centre township of Pennington county with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Mabel Marquarite Schwede was born on March 21, 1946 in Beulah, N.D., the daughter of Robert and Tillie (Heihn) Schwede. She was baptized and confirmed and attended school at Beulah. Mae was homecoming queen and graduated in 1964. Following high school, she attended Bismarck Junior College in Bismarck, N.D.

On November 15, 1968, Mae was united in marriage to Charles Naplin in Beulah. The couple lived in Bismarck where Mae worked for the Bank of North Dakota from 1968 until 1975. In 1975, they moved to St. Hilaire where they farmed. Mae also worked for the St. Hilaire School District for a time.

She was very active at Black River Lutheran Church and with its WELCA and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family.

Mae is survived by her husband, Charles of rural St. Hilaire; two sons, Brian of rural St. Hilaire and Scott of Becker; a granddaughter; a brother, George (Mary) Schwede of Bismarck, N.D.; two sisters, June (Mahlon) Moore of Coon Rapids and Rosemary Wetzel of North Bend, Ore.; a sister-in-law; and 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Schwede; and several aunts and uncles. A00003B2000AP11
