Thief
River Falls - LeRoy Nabben, 74, died Sunday,
April 8, 2001 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks,
N.D.
A
memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today
(Wednesday, April 11) at Zion Lutheran Church in
Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held for one
hour prior to the service.
LeRoy's
body was donated to the University of North Dakota.
Interment will be held at a later date in Fort
Snelling Cemetery in St. Paul.
LeRoy
Carlyle Nabben was born on July 5, 1926 in Thief
River Falls, the son of Henry and Ella Nabben. He
graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. He
served in the U.S. Navy and attended the University
of North Dakota before returning to Thief River
Falls where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service
until his retirement in 1987. In 1944, he was
married to Abigail Thomas.
LeRoy
was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active
in the American Legion, serving as commander. He
was also a member of the VFW, Masons and
Shrine.
He
enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending
time at his cabin on Union Lake.
LeRoy
is survived by his wife, Abigail; a son, Dennis
(Marijo) of Thief River Falls; a daughter, Anne
(Tim) of Eau Claire, Wisc.; a granddaughter; a
sister, Sandra (Robert) of Grand Rapids; a brother,
Henry (Lynn) of Eagan; and several nieces and
nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Capt.
Stephen L. Nabben; and his stepmother, Florence
