Fred Mykelby, 67

Thief River Falls - Fred Mykleby, 67, died on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls. Mykleby, Fred

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 16 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Ida Nordvall was the organist and the soloist was Brenda Marben who sang "His Eyes is on the Sparrow." Ann Marben provided "Amazing Grace" as part of the special music. Casketbearers were Neil Gillespie, Dale Svendsgaard, Howard Peterson, Frank Knott, Wilford Sletten, Jerry Unruh and Mark Paulson. Honorary casketbearers were James Parnham, Glen Stengrim, Dale Toren, Donald Mattson, Kjell Melvie and all his family and friends. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Fred Alden Mykleby was born on December 25, 1934, the son of Fred E. and A. Katheran (Polson) Mykleby. He grew up in Plummer and graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer. He was an owner operator truck driver for the Bekins Truck Lines and a manager at Allied Truck Lines. He became the transportation director for School District 564 in Thief River Falls until his retirement in 1997.

Fred enjoyed football, especially the Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed ice fishing and woodworking and was a member of the Elks Club in Thief River Falls.

Survivors include his significant partner of 17 years, Suzie Parnham of Thief River Falls; three sons, Jeff (Jeralyn) of Avondale, Ariz., Mike (Mitzi) of Phoenix, Ariz. and Kevin (Lisa) of Salem, Ore.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Edith (Wally) Etter of Mora and Phyllis (Wilford) Sletten of Thief River Falls.
