Wing - Albert Myhrer, 84, died Friday, March 9,
2001 at Fairview Red Wing Hospital in Red
Wing.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, March 13, at 11 a.m.
at New River Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tom
Johnson officiating. Casketbearers were Jessie
McDonnell, Michael McGuire, Les Myhrer, Nathan
Odman, Chuck Peterson and Howard Stenerson.
Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing with
Mahn Family Funeral Home in charge of the
arrangements.
Albert
Theodore Myhrer was born on July 3, 1916 in Thief
River Falls, the son of John and Borghild (Jensen)
Myhrer. He graduated from Lincoln High School in
Thief River Falls and attended the Salvation Army
Training School in Chicago for two years. Following
school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War
II.
On
June 30, 1944, he married Esther V. Ortloff. Albert
did service work in various areas for the Salvation
Army until 1970. In 1971, he and Esther moved to
Red Wing. He worked at Riviera Cabinets for 10
years until his retirement. Esther died on June 27,
1986.
Albert
volunteered and conducted services at Hi Park Care
Center and volunteered at Red Wing Health Center,
working with the Mended Wings program. He was a
member of New River Assembly of God Church and
enjoyed music and gardening.
Survivors
include six children, Karen (John) Etheridge of
Pharr, Texas, Rosie Myhrer of Red Wing, Keith
Myhrer of Las Vegas, Nev., Estelle Myhrer of Red
Wing, Nancy (Dennis) Hanson of Ellsworth and Terry
Myhrer of Cary, N.C.; five grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild;
and a sister, Ruth Keuhn of Ely.
Albert
was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a
daughter, Lolly Jennings; and ten
siblings.
