Ella Mostrom, 95

Clearbrook - Ella Mostrom, 95, formerly of Gonvick, died Thursday, February 9, 2001 at Clearwater County Memorial Hospital in Bagley.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, rural Trail, with Rev. Steven Sparley officiating. Larissa Chervestad was the organist, and the soloist was Carol Tharaldson. Casketbearers were Randy Mostrom, Glenn Hofstad, Errol Rustan, Rodney Bjerklie, Eddie Olson and Harlan Mostrom. Interment was in Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery with Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Service of Fosston in charge of the arrangements.

Ella Mostrom was born on December 10, 1905 in Artland, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Gustav and Ida (Hanson) Mostrom. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On October 20, 1927, Ella was united in marriage to William Mostrom in Bemidji. The couple farmed and raised their family north of Gully, and Ella also worked at a time at an area lefse factory. William died on September 29, 1985. In her later years, Ella lived with her son, LeRoy, in Gonvick, and in August of 2000, she became a resident of Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, baking, gardening, flowers, berry picking and visiting.

She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and was active in its ladies aid.

Ella is survived by four sons, LeRoy of Gonvick, Robert of Brooks, Forrest (Betty) of Gonvick, and Lyle (Joyce) of Van Wert, Iowa; three daughters, Bernice (Gilmer) Oftelie of Gully, Doris Danielson of Gonvick, and Shirley Johnsrud of Goodridge; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mabel Hofstad of Trail and Laura (Elmer) Rustan of Oklee; a brother, Ernie (Sammie) Mostrom of Longview, Wash.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Julie; a step grandson, Daniel; her parents; two brothers, Oscar and Andrew; and a sibling in infancy.
