Thief
River Falls - Maynard Molskness, 90, died on
Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Oakland Park Nursing Home
in Thief River Falls.
Funeral
services were held on Tuesday, May 6 at Our
Savior's Free Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls
with the Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Wanda
Vigness was the organist. Casketbearers were Gene
Olmstead, Darin Jahnke, Josh Molskness, Jeff
Molskness, Rob Molskness and Jordy Harger. Honorary
casketbearers were Maynard's sons, step-sons and
nephews. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in
Thief River Falls.
Maynard
Molskness was born on August 26, 1912, the son of
John and Sina (Kaldor) Molskness, in Hillsboro,
N.D. He was baptized and attended school in
Hillsboro. He stayed home and farmed with his
parents until he was 20 years old. He then worked
out as a hired farm hand.
On August
10, 1935, he married Madeline Boutain of Red Lake
Falls. The couple made their home in Solway and
farmed a 40-acre place and logged. In 1940, they
moved to the Thief River Falls area and he was
employed at Wiener Motors as a body man. In 1943,
the couple bought a farm in Sanders Township of
Pennington County. He later bought a shop at Solway
for a while, until returning to his farm in Sanders
Township. Madeline died in a car accident in
1959.
Maynard
married Leonette (Jenkauski) Anderson in November
1959 in Thief River Falls. She died in May 1987.
On
December 15, 1992, he married Irene Lysne in Thief
River Falls and the couple continued to reside in
Thief River Falls. Maynard enjoyed reading his
Bible every day and loved going for rides in the
country. He also loved playing guitar and having
coffee with his friends.
Survivors
include his wife, Irene of Thief River Falls;
children, Leslie (Marg) of Florida, Peggy Mostad of
Bemidji, Larry (Sharyn) of Missouri, Muriel (Fred)
Craig of Eden Prairie, and Tom (Barbara) of Thief
River Falls; step-children, Forrest (Sandy)
Anderson of Ohio, Faye (Steve) Dudas of Washington,
Donvan (Edie) Anderson of California, Sherman Lysne
of Kansas, and Carolyn Jablinske of Thief River
Falls; 13 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren;
sisters, Signe Jorgenson and Dagny Irvin, both of
Thief River Falls; brothers, Raymond (Arlene), and
Gerhard, both of Thief River Falls, and Bernard
(Ora) of Tacoma, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends.
Maynard
was preceded in death by his wives, Madeline and
Leonette; his parents; two sisters, Mugda Russum
and Amanda Hinden; and two brothers, Henry and
Clarence Molskness.
