Elizabeth "Alice" Mjelde, 91

Northfield - Elizabeth "Alice" Mjelde, 91, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the Dilley Unit of the Northfield Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 3 at the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Northfield with Rev. Joe Dokken and Rev. George Bunnell officiating. Pianists were Janet Dokken and Stephanie Miller. Vocalists were Leslie Hoeg and Rex Steigerwalt. Casketbearers were Todd Fritz, Rob Mossinghoff, Robert Williams, Jim Crye, Gene Wilson and Larry Ellsworth. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield.

Elizabeth "Alice" Johnsrud was born on October 16, 1911, the daughter of Ole and Julia (Odegaard) Johnsrud in Erie. She was raised in Erie and attended school there.

On April 2, 1930, she was united in marriage to Harry Oliver Mjelde. The couple lived in Rosewood and then Thief River Falls before moving to Waukegan, Ill. in 1954. Following Harry's death in 1977, Alice lived in Carmichael, Calif. for a short time before moving to Northfield in 1980. She was a long-time member of Abundant Life Assembly in Northfield. She enjoyed being with her family, friends, children and grandchildren. She was very involved with her church and the church activities and was known as "Grandma" to all.

Survivors include her sons, Ramon (Rosemary) of Northfield, Ronald of Northfield, Thomas (Katherine) of Dennison; a daughter, Sharon Ellsworth of Dundas; a sister, Clara Torgerson of New Brighton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Nancy Mjelde of Texas, Nancy Mjelde of Idaho and son-in-law, Lawrence Ellsworth of Northfield; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; four brothers, Cornelius, Teloy, Enoch and Odin; two sisters, Odelia and Lillian; a son, Dale; an infant daughter; daughter-in-law, Helen; and a grandson. A00003B2003FB05
