James Miramontes, 73

Fifield, Wisc. - James J. Miramontes, 73, died Friday, March 29, 2002 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls, Wisc.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 3) at Novitzke Funeral Home Chapel in Park Falls, Wisc. with Deacon Chet Ball officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield, Wisc. with military rites accorded by the Fifield American Legion Post.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. parish prayer vigil on Tuesday, April 2, at Novitzke Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to today's services.

James J. Miramontes was born on April 20, 1928 in Thief River Falls, the son of Benjamin Sr. and Paula (Serrano) Miramontes. He attended school in Thief River Falls and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After being discharged from the service, he worked for Soo Line Railroad for 39 years.

Jim married Kathi Miller in 1963. The couple moved to Fifield, Wisc. in December of 1965.

Survivors include his wife, Kathi of Fifield; three daughters, Paula (Tim) Olcikas of Harshaw, Wisc., Lisa Miramontes of Rhinelander, Wisc., and Christine Miramontes of Park Falls, Wisc.; two sons, Gregory (Annette) Miramontes of Riverside, Calif. and Timothy Miramontes of Rice Lake, Wisc.; six grandchildren; a brother, Charles Miramontes of Red Crest, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and two brothers. A00003B2002AP03
