Walter Miller, 72

Greenbush - Walter Miller, 72, died on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Walter Miller p.m. on Wednesday, August 6 (today) at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush with the Rev. Bryce Fellbaum officiating. Casketbearers were Shawn Collins, Steve Collins, Dale Wicklund, Daryl Wicklund, Kendall Minske and Jeff Hennum. Honorary casketbearers will be all those who attend the service. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Greenbush.

Walter Jerome Miller was born in Barnett Township, near Greenbush, on January 6, 1931, the son of John and Pearl (Gorvin) Miller. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member. Walter graduated from Crookston Agricultural College in 1949. He was employed at the Greenbush Creamery for several years and farmed in Barnett Township. He spent six winters employed at the GM plant in Los Angeles, Calif.

On October 29, 1960, he married Adell Nelson in Strathcona. Since their marriage, the couple has lived and farmed in Barnett Township, where they raised small grains and operated a dairy farm. Walter also worked as a carpenter throughout the area over the years.

Survivors include his wife, Adell; two sons, Mark and Paul, both of Greenbush; two daughters, Elaine (Charlie) Kapphahn and Carolyn (Dan) Schindler, both of Greenbush; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Ernest (Alice) of Greenbush and Donald of St. Cloud; three sisters, Lillian Kriko of Brush Prairie, Wash., Doris (Don) Wicklund of Greenbush and Dorothy Minske of Pengilly; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Myron and an infant brother, Harry.
