Signe Miller, 88

Thief River Falls - Signe Miller, 88, died Monday, April 29, 2002 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 Miller obit p.m. on Friday, May 3, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Wanda Vigness was the organist, and Jodi Kozan was the soloist.

Casketbearers were Randy Keim, Greg Keim, Jack Miller, Gary Miller, Del Loven, Bill Loven, Jeff Loven, Robert Miller, Lyle Miller, Aaron Miller, Roger Anderson, Arlo Miller, and Jason Miller. Honorary casketbearers included Twila Keim, Arnola Reilly, MariLou Anderson, Shirley Wegley, Valerie Thayer, Tami Irlbeck, Rosalee Dahlen, Roxanne Iverson, Rhonda Haugen, Brenda Sather, Bonnie Kolden, Jennifer Langevin, Jodi Kozan, Jamie Geer, Alice Miller, Christy Wheeler, and Savannah Miller. Burial will be in Reiner Cemetery, rural Goodridge with Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls in charge of the arrangements.

Signe Sjulestad was born on December 29, 1913 in Star Township of Pennington County, the daughter of Even and Ingaborg (Dahle) Sjulestad. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Delmoe School, District 5.

On September 6, 1930, she was united in marriage to Morris Miller in Thief River Falls. The couple resided and farmed in Reiner Township until 1968 when they moved to Thief River Falls. Signe worked at Northwestern Hospital in 1960, Land O'Lakes until 1968, and Arctic Enterprises until her retirement in 1973. Morris died on July 11, 1991. Signe resided at Valley Home and the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center since 1997.

She was a member of Reiner Lutheran Free Church where she served as organist for many years. Other memberships included Sons of Norway, Homemakers Club, and Rebecca's "Kitchen Band." Signe also wrote the Reiner News for The Times.

She enjoyed needlework, music, traveling to Norway to visit family, crossword puzzles, and playing the piano.

Signe is survived by five sons, Edgar (Dorothy) Miller and Richard (Judy) Miller, both of Goodridge, Norman (Sharon) Miller of Greenbush, Morrie (Mary) Miller of Grafton, N.D., and Gene (Kari) Miller of Hallock; five daughters, Delores Keim of Lakota, N.D., Marilyn LaCoursiere of Maple Grove, Sharon (Leon) Iverson of Goodridge, Judy (Richard) Anderson of Thief River Falls, and Joyce (Larry) Geer of Buffalo; 30 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gerald Sjulestad of Goodridge, Eddie Sjulestad of Thief River Falls, and Robert (Irene) Sjulestad and Swen (Bonnie) Sjulestad, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Gertie Elg of Goodridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; a grandson, Michael Miller; a granddaughter, Jessica Geer; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and two grandsons-in-law.
