Greenbush
- Wentzel Miksatko, 94, died on Wednesday,
March 12, 2003 in Chandler, Ariz.
Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, March 19 at
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with
the Rev. Don Braukmann officiating. Casketbearers
were Bruce Altepeter, Roy Paulson, Rick Meyers,
Danny Meyers, Terry Erickson, Vernon Melby and Bob
Graff. Honorary casketbearers were those who
attended the service. Interment was in St. Aloysius
Catholic Cemetery in Leo with military honors
accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post #88.
Wentzel
Aloysius Miksatko was born on September 8, 1908,
the son of Edward Sr. and Louise (Miksatkova)
Miksatko in Norborne, Mo. As a child, he moved with
his family to a farm near Greenbush, where he grew
up and attended school. He was baptized and
confirmed in the Catholic faith. Wentzel served
with the United States Army during World War II and
following his discharge, he returned to Greenbush.
In
November 1949, he married Floretta Loranger. The
couple farmed in Soler Township, north of
Greenbush. Floretta died in 1960 and Wentzel
continued to live on the farm.
In 1970,
he married Anne McCoy in Leo. The couple farmed and
Wentzel was employed at Polaris Industries from
1968 until 1972. He retired from farming in 1975
and moved to Gilbert, Ariz. He was a member of St.
Aloysius Catholic Church of Leo, the Knights of
Columbus, and of the Chandler, Ariz. American
Legion Post. He volunteered in Gilbert for many
years, serving food to the homeless at St. Vincent
DePaul, and taught children to read and do math at
a local school.
Survivors
include two sons, Louis of Chandler, Ariz., and
Leon of Greenbush; one daughter, Lucille Meyers of
St. Hilaire; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mary
Rauenbuehur and Lillian Karboviak, both of
Crookston; and several nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Wentzel
was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; a
grandson; brother, Edward, Jr.; and sister, Anna.
