Harlan Mickelson, 50

Goodridge - Harlan Mickelson, 50, died Sunday, December 2, 2001 at his parent's home at rural Goodridge. Mickelson Obit

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 7, at Telemarken Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, with Rev. Raynard Huglen officiating. Eloda Knutson will be the organist, and the soloist will be Glenda Olson. Casketbearers will be John Wells, John Hammer, Richard Dicken, Mel Gindt, Larry Elder, Ken Reed, Mike Evens and Bob Mujie. Honorary casketbearers will include his friends, co-workers and fellow hockey players. Interment will be in Telemarken Cemetery in Kratka Township of Pennington County.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, December 6, at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Harlan Bruce Mickelson was born on November 25, 1951 at Thief River Falls, the son of Paul Roger and Doloris Lorraine (Beiswenger) Mickelson. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church on February 3, 1952 and confirmed at Telemarken Lutheran Church on October 31, 1965. He attended Washington Elementary and Lincoln High schools in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1969. Harlan attended the University of North Dakota and Northland Community College, studying political science and physics.

In 1973, Harlan moved Wyoming where he began employment in sheet metal at Owen's Corning Fiberglass. He lived in various locations, working in construction, and for the past 10 years, had worked for Rock Springs (Wyo.) Family Recreational Center.

Harlan was a member of the United Mine Workers Union and Sheet Metal Workers Union for over 20 years.

He played hockey in the Rock Springs Men's Hockey League, was very supportive of youth hockey and enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, reading, car racing and especially, sports and history.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Doloris Mickelson of Goodridge; three sisters, Beattie Mickelson of Goodridge, Angela (Nicholas) Frey of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Paula (Harvey) Syltie of Porter; four brothers, Harold of Spicer, Stuart of Warroad, Tim of Goodridge and Tom (Rebecca) Mickelson of Columbus, Ohio; a niece and a nephew; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, two aunts, two uncles and a sister-in-law, Heidi Mickelson. A00003B2001DC05
