Sandra Meyer, 53

Thief River Falls - Sandra Lynn Meyer, 53, died on Friday, October 18, 2002 in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 22 at St. John Meyer, Sandy Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Donald Kirchner officiating. John Folland was the organist and Vanessa Anderson was the soloist. Special music included "The Old Rugged Cross," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Jesus Loves Me." Casketbearers were Rick Spiering, Jeff Spiering, Dale Martell, Dean Martell, Loren Zutz and Ron Zutz. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Sandra Lynn Holmgren was born on July 22, 1949, the daughter of Axel Hilding and Caroline Rosella (Miovac) Holmgren in Roseau. She was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Osakis. She grew up and attended Salol School and Roseau Elementary School and attended high school in Long Prairie.

In 1969, she was married to Jerry Moyer in Osakis. On September 6, 1982, she married Paul Meyer at First Lutheran Church in Mandan, N.D. She worked for the Roseau Children's Home, Marvin Windows in Warroad, Arctic Cat and Noper's Motel in Thief River Falls. Sandra also worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren and more recently at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls. She helped on a farm near Warren for 13 years.

Sandy enjoyed traveling, going to rummage sales, flower gardening, stockcar races, craft work and very much enjoyed listening and dancing to her favorite band, the Needham Twins. She loved fishing and going to the casino to play the slots. She especially enjoyed baking and cooking for her grandchildren and also attending most of her children and grandchilren's basketball games.

Survivors include her husband, Paul of Warren; children, Brian Moyer of Thief River Falls, Kim (Arthur) Panick of Grand Forks AFB, N.D. and Patti Meyer of Warren; three grandchildren; special friend, Duane Anderson of Thief River Falls; sisters, Sharon Rowley of Sharon, N.D., Karen (Bob) Sprynczynatyk of Bismarck, N.D., Deb (Bob) Martell of St. Hilaire and Wanda (Bill) Hillyer of Thief River Falls; and brothers, Gary (Jen) Holmgren of St. Hilaire and David Holmgren of Thief River Falls.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Pat; brothers, Wayne, Darrell and Gale; a niece and a nephew; her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
