St.
Paul - Paul W. Mehrkens, 46, formerly of Thief
River Falls, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at St.
Anthony Central Hospital, Denver, Colo. as a result
of an auto accident.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6,
at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief
River Falls, with Rev. Donald Kirchner,
officiating. Interment will be held in Greenwood
Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation
will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer
service held at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the
service at the church.
Paul
William Mehrkens was born January 18, 1958 in Thief
River Falls, the son of William and Irene
(Steinhauer) Mehrkens. He grew up, attended and
graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River
Falls and also attended Northland College, Thief
River Falls and Concordia College, St. Paul, where
he graduated with a degree in history.
He
served his country in the United States Army.
Paul
was employed in various jobs, most recent as a
mover with TLC Cedar Van Lines, St. Paul. He
enjoyed sports, hockey, softball, horticulture and
writing.
Survivors
include his father, William of Thief River Falls;
sister, Peggy and brother, David Mehrkens all of
Thief River Falls; grandparents, Walter (Ella)
Steinhauer; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He
was preceded in death by his mother, Irene;
grandparents, William and Christine Mehrkens and
Alice Steinhauer.
