Henry McMillan, 82

Mahnomen - Henry "Hank" McMillan, 82, died on Sunday, May 18, 2003 at his home in Mahnomen.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21 (today) at the Circle of Faith Church in Waubun with the Rev. Frank Rogers officiating. Carol Christianson will be the organist and Barbara Krier will be the vocalist. Casketbearers will be Rick Buschette, Jim Buschette, Clarence Buschette, Greg Buschette, Ray Stenmoen and Ken Ahmann. Honorary casketbearers will be all of Hank's friends, the Legion Honor Guard and the Shrine Color Guard. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery in Mahnomen. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Henry "Hank" McMillan was born on December 16, 1920, the son of John and Lillian (Kotval) McMillan. He attended elementary school in Pembina Township and graduated from the Crookston Agricultural School in Crookston. Henry worked with his parents on the family farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944, serving in World War II in the European Theater of Battle. Upon discharge from the military, he worked on the iron ore boats in Duluth for one year. He returned home to work on the farm. He later purchased the farm from his parents and continued farming until he retirement in 1987.

On November 30, 1985, he married Alma Tozcek Wolbeck in Mahnomen. The couple lived in retirement on the farm, where he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and gardening. Henry enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Circle of Faith Church in Waubun, the American Legion Honor Guard, the Shriners serving the El Zagal Color Guard, the VFW and the Benevolent Order of the Elks in Detroit Lakes.

Survivors include his wife, Alma; step-son, John Wolbeck of Thief River Falls; a step-daughter, Marie (Ken) Lingle of LeVittown, Pa.; a brother, Ed (Beverly) of Cloquet; a sister, Eunice Owen of Cherry Valley, Calif.; three step-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard and John; and sisters, Jane Miness, Mildred McMillan and Florence McMillan. A00003B2003MY21
