Mary McGlynn, 66

Mentor &endash; Mary McGlynn, 66, died Saturday, December 22, 2001 at her rural Mentor home.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, McGlynn Obit December 27, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor with Monsignor Grundhouse and Deacon John Bruggeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Mentor.

Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, December 26) from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Mary Virginia Baatz was born on September 3, 1935 in Erskine, the daughter of Alphonse and Myrtle (Ehaust) Baatz. She grew up in rural Mentor and attended a rural school before graduating from Mentor High School in 1954. She then attended teachers training in Thief River Falls. For a short time she taught in Fergus Falls and then in Trail.

On November 30, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Tom McGlynn at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor. She worked as a teacher's aid in Mentor for many years before retiring in 1996.

She enjoyed such outdoor activities as flower gardening and bird and squirrel watching, sewing, quilting, crafting, playing cards and especially, spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband, Tom; four daughters, Peggy (Scott) Nelson of Worthington, Ruth Ann McGlynn of St. Paul, Connie (Keith) Wavra of Red Lake Falls and Patty McGlynn of East Grand Forks; three sons, Greg (Sally) McGlynn of East Grand Forks, Dennis (Lynn) McGlynn of Red Lake Falls and Tom (Cecily) McGlynn Jr. of Mentor; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes (Kenneth) Reek of Iron, Yvonne (Richard) Berhow of Fertile and Donna (Mark) Paradis of Red Lake Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Tony Baatz; and a sister, Leora Buehrle. A00003B2001DC26
