Longtin, Karen photo 25Plummer - Karen Longtin, 55, died on Monday, May 24, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 28, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating. Casket bearers included Jeff Anderson, Richard Anderson, Gary Torkelson, Ralph Landman Jr, Keith Landman, Kurt Casavan, Shawn Casavan, Ryan Longtin, Lucas Torkelson, Brian Torkelson and Travis Torkelson. Interment will follow at the Emardville Cemetery, Plummer.

Karen Helen Longtin was born on May 30, 1948 to Carl and Mabel (Christenson) Torkelson in Fosston, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN. She attended school in Trail, Oklee, and Plummer.

Karen was united in marriage to Don Longtin on June 4, 1966 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer. The couple has lived in Plummer where she has raised her family. During that time she worked out at various jobs. She owned and operated the Karen's Kitchen in Plummer since 1995.

Karen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed tracking and following the family genealogy. She also enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and canning. She was a member of the Immanuel Church and the Ladies Aid.

Karen is survived by her husband Don of Plummer; four children, Geraldine "Toots" (Terry) Hunt of Thief River Falls, Lonnie (Michele) Longtin of Plummer, Jodi (Jason) Douville of Twin Valley; Wade (Fiancé Angela Johnson) Longtin of Thief River Falls; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Arlean (Gary) Anderson of Red Lake Falls, LeRoy Torkelson of Plummer, Carla (Ralph) Landman of Red Lake Falls, Dianne (Jesse Jr.) Casavan of Red Lake Falls, Larry (Susan) Torkelson of Plummer, Carl Torkelson Jr. of Plummer, Dean (Joy) Torkelson of Plummer, Dennis (Angela) Torkelson of Bagley; one aunt, Bernice Torkelson of Oklee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alton and Gerald Torkelson; and one nephew Mark Anderson.
