E. Reuben Lockrem, 77

Schroeder - E. Reuben Lockrem, 77, died on Monday, December 9, 2002 at his home in Schroeder.

Funeral services were held on Friday, December 13 at the Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was in Schroeder Cemetery.

E. Reuben Lockrem was born on February 13, 1925, the son of Rev. Andrew and Christine (Aaseby) Lockrem in Thief River Falls. He attended rural grade school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. He then served in the United States Navy for two years.

On September 24, 1949, he married Harriett Haugen in Thief River Falls. Reuben owned an appliance store in Thief River Falls for several years. He then became a Lutheran Brotherhood agent and worked in Grand Forks, N.D. and, later, in Fosston. In 1986, Reuben retired and the couple moved to Schroeder, where they built their home on Lake Superior.

Survivors include his wife, Harriett; two sons, Peter (Jane) of San Jose, Calif. and Timothy (Sue) of Coon Rapids; four grandchildren; a brother, Quentin of St. Paul; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Caleb; and sisters, Gertrude Hanson, Lydia Hanson and Judith York.
