Dr. Harold T. Lindquist, 81

Oklee &endash; Dr. Harold Truman Lindquist, 81, Oklee, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at the Emmanuel Community Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

Lindquist, Harold Photo Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church, Oklee, with Rev. Robert Paulson Officiating. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Oklee. Pallbearers included Marvin Bronken, Elmer Hanson, Harold Cyr, Delton Sebenaler, Dennis Bachand, and Norman Nelson.

Harold Truman Lindquist was born Oct. 6, 1921 at Oklee, son of August and Gunhild (Engen) Lindquist. He was raised in Oklee and attended school, graduating from the Oklee High School. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead before being drafted into the Army Air Corps and serving during WWII. Following his discharge he received a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy in 1949 and a Doctorate in Dentistry, June 19, 1959, at the University of Minnesota. On June 14, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Mikkelson at Oakes, N.D. Following his graduation from the U of M he began his career in Crookston. He later started a practice as the first and only dentist in Oklee, which ran from 1961 until his retirement in 1987. Harold served in many groups including Zion Lutheran Church Council, the Northland College Board and the School Board for 18 years. He loved watching his children play sports, singing, golfing and watching the Minnesota Vikings. He liked playing cards, especially whist and bridge.

He is survived by children; Richard (Marcia) Lindquist, Fargo, N.D.; Mark Lindquist, Detroit Lakes; Jon (Jeanne) Lindquist, Detroit Lakes, Karen (Tom) Wenner, Cottage Grove, and Chris Lindquist, Fargo, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Adella Lindquist, Oklee, Norma Sweet, Blaine, and Marvel Sheets, LaPorte, and one brother Willard (Vernice) Lindquist, Moorhead. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Joan in 1992, daughter, Jean Lindquist in 1997; three brothers Vernon, Mauritz and Raymond, one sister Alice Lindquist; sister-in-law Ruth Lindquist and brother-in-laws, Paul Sweet and Arthur Sheets.
