Margaret
Linder, 80
Oklee
- Margaret Linder, 80, died Tuesday, February
6, 2001 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in
Clearbrook.
Funeral
services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday,
February 10 at Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee with
Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Marian Marquis was
the organist, and the soloist was Erica McGeary.
Casketbearers were Dennis Linder, Eddie Larson,
Orrin Linder, Henry Linder, Dennis Torkelson and
Dean Torkelson. Interment was in Salem Church
Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Service of Oklee in
charge of the arrangements.
Margaret
Torkelson was born on April 17, 1920 in Equality
township of Red Lake county, the daughter of Ole
and Margit (Knutson) Torkelson. She was raised and
educated in Equality township. She worked as a
domestic laborer on area farms.
On
July 1, 1944, Margaret was united in marriage to
Frank Linder by Rev. J.K. Lerohl at Oklee. The
couple lived and farmed in Garnes township near
Oklee. After Frank died in 1980, Margaret continued
to live on the farm until entering Good Samaritan
Nursing Home on October 14, 1998.
She
was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and
its ladies aid.
Margaret
enjoyed visiting, gardening, flowers, cooking,
baking and especially spending time with her sons
and grandchildren.
Survivors
include five sons, Robert (Gloria) Torkelson of
Oklee, Ron Linder of Plummer, Galen (Val) Linder of
Oakland, Calif., Jim Linder of St. Cloud and Steve
(Donna) Linder of Oklee; three grandchildren; three
sisters-in-law; and many nieces and
nephews.
Margaret
was preceded in death by her husband; parents; nine
brothers, Tom Torkelson, Isaac Torkelson, Knute
Torkelson, Osmond Torkelson, Benny Torkelson,
Martin Torkelson, Oscar Torkelson, Carl Torkelson
and Nere Torkelson; and two sisters, Bertha
McDaniel and Carrie Birkeland.
